## Services and availability

Caregivers are independent and set their own hourly rates in Canadian dollars (CAD). HelpNest does not employ or supervise caregivers, does not charge booking fees and does not take a commission on care; payment for care is agreed directly with the caregiver.

## Membership
Care seekers and caregivers each have a monthly membership in CAD (see https://helpnest.ca/pricing for current prices). Everyone starts with two free months with no card required, and nobody is charged without choosing a paid plan. Account, privacy, cancellation and safety features stay available whatever the membership status.

## How it works
Caregiver profiles and availability are visible only to signed-up care seekers (free account with Google), to protect caregivers' privacy.

1. Discover a caregiver: search by service, area and time.
2. Review profile and credential information: identity verification status and the review status of police checks and certificates.
3. Arrange the booking with connected scheduling: requests become bookings only when the caregiver accepts.
4. Stay informed: request check-ins (the caregiver must accept) and read care activity updates during the booking.

## Connected care
- Connected calendars: optional Google Calendar connection. HelpNest sees busy/free times only (not event details) and adds confirmed bookings to a separate "HelpNest bookings" calendar.
- Check-ins: message or short video check-ins requested by the care seeker and accepted or declined by the caregiver. Video links are created only on acceptance.
- Care activity logs: caregiver-written updates that cannot be edited or deleted; corrections are added alongside. Not medical records.
- Identity verification: government photo ID checked by Stripe. Confirms identity; it is not a background check.
- Credentials: police checks and certificates are stored privately. Profiles show review status and expiry only.

## Safety
